🦋 Personality

  1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

  2. Jon’s experience is more with the supernatural or spiritual than with what would be considered magic. He wouldn’t call it such, necessarily. He would consider the white walkers, the bodies of the dead who are reanimated by the Night King, as supernatural creatures instead of magical ones. Even his return from the dead isn’t the result of magic; Melisandre didn’t make it happen, the god she worships did. The supernatural and the spiritual are tied in closely with life in Westeros (as is the superstition that comes with them).

But if these supernatural and spiritual things can happen, then why can’t magic? They look so much like magic anyway that it’s not a stretch to go from “faith can be so strong that it can restore life” to “magic can make things happen”. Jon doesn’t necessarily trust supernatural or spiritual phenomena, but he doesn’t necessarily distrust them either. In most cases, caution is necessary until there’s a fuller picture of the situation. (It’s too bad he doesn’t always apply this caution to people.) He can accept that a lot of things are possible, but that doesn’t mean that he will always like them.

He would be the first to admit that sometimes things with a supernatural or magical aspect can be beneficial or useful. After all, it was Bran’s supernatural abilities that allowed him to finally learn the truth about his identity. He also knows that the presence of the supernatural can present unique challenges, too, such as when trying to defeat a supernatural enemy.

  3. What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.

  4. Jon wouldn’t mind being a yeti. Being able to wander wild areas while mostly being left in peace has a lot of appeal to him. He feels more at home in the wide-open spaces of the North than he does in the cities he’s been in lately, and he doesn’t mind the snow and cold. He grew up around it, and in fact has never been happier than when he was among the people north of the Wall. They were the first who didn’t care who his parents were or weren’t, and what their legal status was. And now, while he likes having what’s left of his family around, and they may not care about his legal status, there are still plenty who do. The life of a bastard is not an easy one in Westeros, at least among the noble Houses. Up north of the Wall, he felt none of that, only acceptance as part of the group. If he had to be a yeti to get some of that peace again, he’d take it.
He would not want to be a white walker, or something like it. The idea of being a walking corpse, with no free will or even the ability to think or recognize his loved ones terrifies him. As does the same fate happening to someone he cares about, which is why he would make a point of burning the dead so that they could not be touched and turned into one of these creatures. They should be allowed to remain peacefully in death, not become part of an attacking horde.

  5. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

  6. His mother, Lyanna. He has had questions about his mother for his entire life, and that hasn’t changed now that he knows who she is. While he has questions about his father as well, he doesn’t feel as unsatisfied at not having those answers. He grew up thinking that his uncle was his father; he never had the same questions about his father that he has about his mother. He had a father, and after he left home, he had a second father figure. But he has never had anyone to fill the role of mother for him. That is the one role in his life that remains unfilled. He saw the sort of relationship that the Stark children had with their mother that he never got to have himself. It is the one thing he wants more than any other, and there is little that he wouldn’t give to get it.

  7. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

  8. His strongest trait is his moral compass. The Starks are known for integrity and loyalty, and since Jon was raised by Ned Stark, he learned to be the same sort of man. He will do what’s necessary even when he doesn’t enjoy the idea of having to do so. Ned taught him that the man who passes the sentence should carry it out, and Jon does not pass tasks on to others just because they’re unpleasant. He will sacrifice what he wants for the good of the whole. This qualities make him a good leader, even if he’s a reluctant one. There are some who disagree with his choices, which can lead to betrayal, but he sticks by what he feels is the best option for the highest number of people. What’s the benefit of having the authority if he’s not going to use to the benefit of those who don’t have it? He dislikes cruelty for the sake of cruelty, and some of the actions he has has to take over the years (leaving the wildlings behind because he had to warn Westeros about a bigger threat, executing the men who had mutinied and killed him) have weighed heavily on him.

    🦋 Fae Court

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.
    • Summer

    • Autumn

    • Winter

Ability: Do you want your character to gain the ability of their court? (Delete the other two options.)

    3) Yes, but they either have no ability of their own, or they refuse to trade theirs away; they will buy their court's ability on credit.

Character Information
Name: Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen)
Canon: Game of Thrones the TV show
Canon Point: Episode 7x05, Eastwatch, plus CRAU from the Sphere
Age: 23

(canon) background: Wiki
(CRAU) background: Shortly after his arrival in the Sphere, Sansa sat him down and explained the story of his parents, which was then something he had to start figuring out how to accept. He was able to consider more about what it meant when Ned arrived and the two of them were able to discuss it. When Robb arrived and Jon had to explain it to him, it was an opportunity for Jon to assure Robb (and himself) that he was still the same person Robb had always known.

Events in the Sphere such as the appearance of ghosts from the past, or the sharing of memories, forced him to continue to reckon with his past, and sometimes his newly-discovered identity. Although he hasn't fully come to terms with it yet, he has started to acknowledge his heritage more.

He relaxed a bit more in the Sphere, too, after starting to make some friends, and after he realized that his life's not in danger just by virtue of who he is. After he met Inesa, Sansa's best friend, he discovered that he could have some happiness in his life, especially some without complications, when they started living together.

abilities: Since he was raised in one of the great Houses of Westeros, and joined the Night's Watch, he is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, especially with a sword, and a skilled horseback rider. He is also a good head at military/battlefield strategy.

Personality: Since he was raised by Ned Stark, away from all the machinations of court in King's Landing, he inherited Ned's strong moral compass. He'll do what's necessary because it's necessary, but that doesn't mean he enjoys it. He puts the good of the whole above what's best for him, as evidenced when he risks his life on a dangerous plan in the hope of being able to stop an army that threatened everyone in Westeros. He does what he feels is right, and he's never cruel just because he can be.

Another trait Jon got from Ned is his incredible loyalty. Once he has sworn his loyalty to someone, that loyalty is absolute, unless that loyalty conflicts with something to which he has a greater loyalty. He swore fealty to Daenerys, but when he realized that she was a threat to all of the lands beyond Westeros, his loyalty to all of the people who would be affected by continued wars caused him to break his loyalty to Daenerys and deal with the threat. This is also why he fights to protect those who need it, such as those who can't fight for themselves. This extends to those considered outcasts by their society, which he himself has been his whole life due to being (supposedly) an illegitimate child. This loyalty has also led to Jon developing leadership skills. Due to his loyalty to his friends, others will follow him, even when that's not what he set out to get them to do. He became the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch at a young age after a relatively brief time of service, elected to the position after helping to defend Castle Black against an attack. Northmen named him King in the North after he helped regain control of the region. In neither case did he put himself forward for this; it was others who wanted to see him in a leadership role. These are roles he takes on reluctantly but once he has them, he does them in the way he thinks will benefit the most people.

Like anyone else, he does have his faults, too. Due to his demonstrated stubbornness, he sometimes has a hard time following advice. There are ways that he thinks things should be done, or ways he wants to do them, and he doesn't tend to take the advice of someone who suggests it should be done differently. Sometimes he turns out to be right, and sometimes he doesn't. He's also honest to a fault. He's bad at lying, and can't do it even when obscuring the truth would be better, such as when attempting to gain allies. Because of his unflinching honesty, he can't usually see treachery in someone else until it's too late. At least until it kills him, at which point he does become more wary, but no less honest.

Inventory: Clothing made by Inesa and Sansa, with a three-headed wolf embroidered by Sansa; a fur-lined cloak; a knife worn in his belt for protection; his sword, Longclaw; I would also like for him to have his direwolf Ghost, if at all possible.

Which of the following would they most like to have in abundance: limitless good luck, the freedom to act without restraint, the ability to teach and to learn, or for everyone to just relax?

Court strategy: He's learned battle/military strategy, but political strategy is beyond him. He doesn't know how to navigate the world of nobility because while he was raised among them, he had little prospect of ever being one himself and his education would not have focused on how to navigate the world of diplomacy, and his skills in that area are lacking.

• Nightmares: Wights/White Walkers: reanimated corpses with glowing blue eyes, which are nearly impossible to defeat, and led by the Night King
Death: specifically his, at the hands of his mutinous brothers in the Night's Watch
